General FAQs for ZCIA (Ziauddin College – HSSC Advanced)
The Higher Secondary School Certificate – Advance (HSSC-A) is an academic qualification based on the A Level curricula, adapted for the Pakistani education system. This program is endorsed by IBCC and designed to be more accessible and affordable for students transitioning from international to national systems.
HSSC – Advance adopts the A Level framework with a focus on deep subject understanding. It offers a cost-effective alternative to A Levels without compromising academic standards.
HSSC – Advanced follows the International A Level curriculum.
Yes, students can choose subject streams aligned with their interests and career goals.
Currently, HSSC – Advanced offers three core subjects in the following combinations:
- Physics, Chemistry and Biology OR
- Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics OR
- Physics, Chemistry and Computer Studies OR
- Physics, Computer Studies and Mathematics OR
A minimum of three core subjects and four compulsory subjects (Urdu, Paksitan Studies, English and Islamiat) are required. Compulsory subjects should either be completed at Matriculation, O’Level or SSC – Advanced Level.
Yes, this qualification is recognized by governmental authorities in Sindh and IBCC – a national regulatory authority in Pakistan.
Yes, IBCC officially endorses HSSC – Advance.
Yes, if taken via LRN, the qualification is internationally endorsed and recognized.
No, equivalence is not required as transcripts will include grades, marks, and percentage details.

My name is Shahina Nazir, and I am a former student of Dr Ziauddin Intermediate College.
I was born and brought up in Africa, mainly in Uganda and Mozambique. I did my O`levels from Aga Khan High school, Kampala, Uganda.
When I moved to Pakistan it was very difficult for me to adjust because I did not know how to read and write in Urdu. The only languages I learnt in Africa were English, Portuguese and French. I was really worried that I would not be accepted in any college because of my language issue but I was lucky enough to have found a college where my weakness was not a problem.
My elder sister came across Ziauddin Intermediate college`s website and she suggested me to give it a try in this college. I discussed my queries regarding the language issue with Ma’am Naheed and she told me that this will be taken care of. I was so relieved after having talked to Ma’am.
And that is how my journey began as a student of Ziauddin Intermediate college.
