We see Grades 1 and 2 as the foundation years for vocabulary building and language development. We provide differentiated instruction for our students in these grade levels, focused around our ‘resource-rich’ classrooms so that students learn to develop at their own pace. In these grade levels we give an additional focus to vocabulary, verbal language skills (building communicative competence), active listening skills, and language awareness. We also ensure students are developing a thorough grounding in literacy skills.
